Money - the root of all evil?

You will have heard the saying, thrown about accusingly by many people unhappy with today’s society. But IS money really the root of all evil? Maybe to a gambler on route to Las Vegas, but no it’s certainly not the root of all evil and here is why…

War for oil? Ring any bells? Of course it does, the greed of governments looking to get money by taking control of other countries’ valuable resources has been around for centuries. Oil isn’t the first resource and it certainly won’t be the last, a few hundred years ago wars were raged at sea over resources such as black gold (coffee), alcohol, jewellery and of course foreign money which in turn would be sold on for more money at markets! But can we blame money for all of this? Sure it is at the root of many modern day problems, but take a look into the past.

Before the creation of money obviously everything was peaceful with us humans, nothing to fight over, no concept of ‘the root of all evil’. Wait a minute something is wrong here! Things weren’t peaceful at all… in fact they were more chaotic than today’s society!
Neanderthals had no money at all, they were regular bums – they never even signed onto the dole and took money from the governments’ war fueled money system. Yet they fought, worse than we do today, Neanderthal experts have even discovered that they cannibalised their enemies, fought over territories and murdered innocents to get better access to fresh water and fertile grounds. Sounds like fun right? I just cannot begin to see why money was ever implemented for people to buy land, water and food when you could just bludgeon your enemies, eat them and then take their land and rape their women!

No money isn’t the root of all evil… in fact money has, if anything stopped more evil than it’s caused…no YOU are the root of all evil, as am I and every other person in existence for it’s the natural evolutionary greed of man that has now ‘villianized’ money. Money is just another excuse in a long line for the poor behaviour of man, remove money from the world and the underlying problem would still exist: “they have something we haven’t got – we want it, and more over we’re willing to kill to get it”. No matter how much you wash your hands and pray to gods, you cannot wash or pray away a million years or so of blood from our ancestors hands… and when you look at the fact that we have been killing for personal gain for that million or so years you cannot blame money which has only been around for five thousand years on the evil of mankind.
